3000 East Upgrades

Project Update - July 2024

coneThe final phases of the 3000 East Improvement Project are 60% finished! Crews are working at a fast pace to get major upgrades completed before school starts on August 12.

  • The pipe work is going smoothly with steady progress.
  • Trucks continue to haul in roadbase material which is then graded into place and compacted in preparation for paving.
  • More asphalt paving is happening every few weeks as pipe work is completed and different sections of roadway are readied.
  • Landscapers are working south of Hela Seegmiller Farm.

The opening of the westside of the 2450 South and 3000 East intersection is delayed due to some utility conflicts. It is anticipated the improvements on 2450 South will be completed in mid-July*.

The traffic patterns are changing on the project as the work progresses. The 2000 South and 3000 East intersection pictured above is an example of these changes.

Safety Reminder:

This is an active construction zone and pedestrians, cyclists, ATV riders and other recreational vehicles are not permissible in the area. For everyone’s safety, stay in the designated travel lanes and obey all traffic control.

The speed limit is reduced to 30 mph through the work area. Stay alert and maintain appropriate speeds.

Crews are working Monday through Friday from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no weekend work currently scheduled.

Thank you for your patience.

Project Overview

Starting in October 2021, work began to upgrade the 3000 East corridor from Riverside Drive to Seegmiller Drive. Improvements include intersection expansions, widening roads, adding curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, and improving Active Transportation.

Phases 1-4 are complete. Work has commenced concurrently on Phases 5 & 6 and will be completed by late 2024.

To construct the road, the contractor is required to install, replace, and move drainage and utility improvements while maintaining traffic flow. Also, the work is being completed underneath a high-voltage transmission line and in the vicinity of two elementary schools. Because the work area is narrow and linear, the equipment has to move in a tandem manner and cautiously to accomplish the work. Please remember that the construction zone is active with heavy equipment and materials. No bike, pedestrian, or motor vehicle access in the active work area is permitted. Let’s keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your patience.
